apartment envy

My friend Elizabeth pretty much lives in the coolest apartment in dc. The building she lives in is a converted school, so there are all these unique features that remind you of the building's past life. Some of my favorite features are the exposed brick walls, concrete floors, high ceilings, tall windows and the widest hall stairwell that I have ever seen! Back in May, Elizabeth had me and my roommate over for some pineapple sangria and chickpea tacos - we were planning our trip to Charleston (which seems so long ago now). One other very cool feature (that I didn't get a good photo of) is the loft space that overlooks the open living room & kitchen area. This small loft space has a cozy reading chair and lamp, so if you're not afraid of heights, this is a nice place to read and relax (or get a birds-eye view of the place like I did for several of these photos). Needless to say, I definitely have apartment envy...

p.s. the second photo is of a glass of sangria from above...pretty cool, huh? Looks like a bubble!

sea salt + campfires

While in Charleston I picked up a couple items to bring home with me: Sea Salt soap from Old Road Mercantile (which smells so refreshing and has exfoliating salt granules) and St. John's Wood tisane candle by Tatine (a campfire in a glass jar) from Worthwhile.

· christmas ·

So I guess I took a little Christmas siesta...I didn't exactly plan it, but I'm not gonna lie, it felt good. It was nice to just focus on the season and enjoy being with family and friends. My family had a nice Christmas; we enjoyed watching my brother's five kids open gifts, play with their new toys/gadgets and as kind of a family tradition, we sat around the dining room table playing "Say Anything" late at night. It was really nice. Oh, and my mom and I got a good laugh on Christmas morning when the monkey bread went a little crazy...never-mind how it looked, it was quite yummy! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...here's to a new year full of possibilities!

· weekend goodness ·

My weekend was decidedly low-key and lame...but much needed. I spent most of this chilly weekend planted on the couch wearing my striped/fuzzy/aloe-infused (oh yes!) socks watching Felicity on netflix. Very exciting! But you know, sometimes you just need weekends like that.

· worthwhile ·

A little cute something I picked up for myself while shopping at worthwhile in downtown Charleston.

· give me liberty ·

Have you made it over to Target yet to check out the new(ish) Liberty of London line? I am loving the candles! I bought the Violet Fig candle, and it smells divine! I also love the pretty boxes they come in...perfect for gift-giving (for yourself or someone else). I think I may need to stock up on a few for future gifts.

· this was my february ·

I know we're almost into April but I haven't blogged in a while, so I thought I'd share some images I snapped back in February. The dc area got dumped with snow in February, but thankfully we are already seeing warm days near 70!
