around the beach house

A little over a week ago I was vacationing on the South Carolina shore with family. For a week we stayed in this beautiful new home just a couple blocks from the beach within the gates of Wild Dunes. We have been fortunate to vacation on Isle of Palms/Wild Dunes for several years and we love the area. This house is one of my favorites that we have stayed in, so I made sure I snapped some photos around the house while we were there. By the end of the week I was tempted to send for the rest of my belongings and take up permanent residence...but I'm not sure the owners would have gone for that.

Have I mentioned that I love this town...because I seriously do.

sea salt + campfires

While in Charleston I picked up a couple items to bring home with me: Sea Salt soap from Old Road Mercantile (which smells so refreshing and has exfoliating salt granules) and St. John's Wood tisane candle by Tatine (a campfire in a glass jar) from Worthwhile.

trip to middleton place

In an effort to finally get a blog post out about my trip to Charleston, I practically did zero photo editing...good thing the scenery is naturally beautiful. A couple weekends ago I headed down to Charleston, SC with a couple of girl friends and we had such a fun time. One of the days we were there we drove about twenty minutes outside of the city to tour Middleton Plantation. Middleton is the oldest maintained plantation in the United States...and the grounds are gorgeous. As you can see we had perfect weather while we were there. If you are ever in the Charleston area I highly recommend taking a few hours to visit Middleton. More photos to come...

I CANNOT believe it is already Labor Day weekend and summer is practically over...I already miss it so much! Fall is just around the corner, which means the cool air will be here before we know it (this makes me sad). But, I hope everyone has a lovely holiday weekend...enjoy the last bits of summer!

More of my beach photos can be seen here and here.

Last week I spent seven glorious days in Isle of Palms, SC with my parents and my brother's family. We've been heading to the Carolina shores for many years, we love the charm and beauty of the Charleston area. I think I might retire to this area one day...

· garden & gun ·

If you've read some of my past posts, you know that I love Charleston, SC...so guess where this magazine is created? As soon as I spotted the cover I instantly felt that g&g accurately embodies the spirit of Charleston; it's charming, historic and hip...all at the same time.
I can't say I'm particularly interested in gardens or guns, but garden & gun magazine has beautiful photography and great design...which is what initially drew me to the magazine. I was introduced to g&g by accident when it was delivered to my place of business...and it's a good thing we had two copies delivered because I totally confiscated one of them for myself. Inside the over-sized, welcoming, beautifully-photographed cover you'll find articles on food, music, design, travel, fashion...and, of course, gardens and guns. Pick up an issue if you get the chance and check out their web site.
