There were so many lovely elements to the Kinfolk honey harvest...beautiful scenery, delicious fresh bread & fruit,
local honey, learning about bees and so many friendly faces.

kinfolk honey harvest | middleburg, va | part i

I have been a fan of Kinfolk magazine since it's inception back in 2011 - the beautiful, yet simple design and photography is what initially drew me to the publication. And then they started hosting events all over the globe and I made it one of my goals to attend at least one event. Fortunately a couple weekends ago I had the opportunity to attend a honey harvest at Goodstone Inn in Middleburg, Va, hosted by the lovely Rebecca Gallop of A Daily Something. Although rain threatened to keep us from visiting the hive, it ended up being a perfect evening, albeit a little humid. I was a little apprehensive to attend an event solo, but I met so many wonderful people and had a truly enjoyable time. Now I'm making it my goal to attend a Kinfolk event any chance I get!

Obviously there was a plethora of photo ops, so I have broken this down into two posts. Part two will be following shortly...

photo date

A couple weekends ago I met up with my good friend, Ashley, for an afternoon photo date. We headed into the town of Leesburg, grabbed some lunch at Shoes Cup and Cork Club and then walked around the town with our cameras. It was an overcast day, but thankfully the rain held so that we could capture some of the beautiful flowers and historic buildings in the area. It was fun to just walk wherever we felt so inclined...there was a lot of "right or left?" followed by a shrug of the shoulders, which was nice since we both weren't on any time crunch. I definitely need to take advantage of the surrounding dc area more often...and make "photo dates" a regular activity on my calendar.

Check out Ashley's awesome photos from our afternoon here.

Who wasn't mesmerized by the wedding photos of Lauren Bush and David Lauren in Vogue magazine?! I know I definitely had wedding envy while flipping through their gorgeous photos. And then my eyes landed on the bracelet Lauren is wearing in the above photo...
because it's my bracelet! Ok, so it's not "my" bracelet, but I do own a very similar bracelet. I'm kinda wondering where she got her bracelet, because unfortunately I have no idea who made the bracelet I have. I received my bracelet from my mom who brought it back from a trip she went on a few years ago...either from the Caymans or Florida...I can't remember. Does anyone have any idea who designed these pretty bracelets?

· weekend goodness: pop-up shop ·

This past weekend I got to tag-along with Jennifer to a pop-up shop in Maplewood, NJ hosted by these two lovely ladies: Melissa & Marichelle. Melissa's home, which served as the "shop" location, is a beautiful Victorian style house full of character and charm...seriously, they have gorgeous stained glass windows throughout their house (!). The ladies did such a wonderful job setting everything up...not that I needed anymore enticing to make a few purchases. It was such a fun time, I met some great new folks and got some early Christmas shopping done...

Pop-up shop sellers:
Odette NY
Shanna Murray
Leah Duncan
Clementine
Flores del Sol
Stepanka Ceramics
Secret Holiday
Susy Jack
Hadley Hutton
Alicia Bock
And yummy treats provided by Brandi.

· 3 reasons for fighting ·

I have been following Melodime since before they were known as Melodime. And boy have they just continued to amaze me with their talent. The lead singer of the band, Mr. Bradley Rhodes, is the younger brother of a close friend of mine...so I'm lucky enough to actually know the members of the band. These photos are from their concert and cd release party last Friday at the State Theater in Falls Church, VA. It was such a fun and awesome show...I love to see how far they've come...the place was packed with people dancing and singing to all the songs (including myself!). If you get the chance, check out their newest album: 3 Reasons for Fighting.
